Frontline Games in Clarksville, Tennessee hosted a Limited Insertion tournament, and I played with my (vanilla) Combined Army. My first game was against Ouchies's Jurisdictional Command of Bakunin in Annihilation.
Lists
My list featured some heavy hitters in the form of a Charontid with MSV3 and HMG, Kerr-Nau, and a Speculo Killer. The Skiavoros brought Strategos L2 as my Lieutenant, elevating my list to a solid 11 Regular Orders.
The Shrouded Minelayers and Ikadrons would provide solid board control. The Daturazi, in addition to Smoke Grenades can solve a variety of problems with their regular Grenades, Chain Rifles, and stellar CC.
Ouchies brought a Fireteam: Core of Rev. Moiras led by Kusanagi. A pair of Rev. Custodiers added some Hacking strength, and a Tsyklon brought some more offensive firepower. (I really wish the Tsyklon had a Wildcard option in Bakunin so it could join a Custodier Haris.)
Deployment
I won the Lt. roll and choose first turn, so my opponent had me deploy first. It wasn't until the middle of turn one that I remembered to start taking pictures:
My Shrouded and their Mines are behind central and right-of-center buildings, covering the main middle lanes. My Ikadrons cover my flanks, and Kerr-Nau is near the edge of my Deployment Zone just left of the center line. My Skiavoros uses Forward Deployment to be in Total Cover near the Shrouded. My Daturazi go in the center of my backfield since I'm holding my Charontid and Speculo in reserve.
My opponent puts his Fireteam prone on a roof on the right side. The Rev. Custodier HD+ is on a roof in the center of his DZ, while the Custodier AHD is on a roof on the left side with the Tsyklon and Morlock on the ground nearby.
My Speculo goes on the bridge leading to the roof with the Custodier AHD, while the Charontid goes on a roof on my right side with a route to the Moira Fireteam. Ouchies's reserve models are the Uberfall, which he uses to block the Speculo: the Pupniks form a wall blocking the end of the bridge while the Chimera is on the ground behind the building.
Round 1
Combined: The Daturazi impetuously advance, but stay out of enemy LoF. The Charontid uses the roof tops to move up along right flank toward the Moira Fireteam. Along the way, he easily guns down the Tsyklon and Morlock each with a single Order. He then climbs up a ladder in order to see the Moira AHD on the next building over. We're in the 8-16" range band, which is bad for the Charontid's HMG great for the Moira's Multi Rifle, so unsurprisingly I lose the exchange. The Charontid loses a wound, but against the DA ammo it could have been much worse. Not wanting to repeat that, the Charontid retreats back into cover. In a coordinated order, Kerr-Nau moves up the center, both Ikadrons advance along their respective flanks, and a Shrouded moves toward the building the Charontid is on. Another Coordinated Order has the Ikadrons and Shrouded continue their movement, while Kerr-Nau drops prone behind some cover and lands a Repeater near the Custoider AHD. Kerr-Nau beats the Custodier in a Hacking fight with Maestro, but she makes her BTS save on a 20. The Shrouded from earlier joins the Charontid on the roof, and then drops a Mine on the bridge leading to the Moiras. With my last order, the Charontid goes into Suppression Fire covering the Moira's building.
Bakunin: In order to preserve the Pupnik wall, Ouchies spends a Regular Order to cancel the Uberfall's impetuous Order. The Custodier AHD backpedals in order to move out of Repeater range, but Kerr-Nau KOs her with Maestro.
The Moira E/M LGL uses Speculative Fire to land an E/M Grenade covering the Charontid, Shrouded, and Mine. The Shrouded and Charontid both successfully Dodge. We're not sure about it, but we rule that—even though it won't suffer damage—the Mine will be revealed. Next, Kusanagi stands up to fire at the Charontid. She gets one shot through, but the Charontid makes his armor save and fails his Guts Roll to fall into Total Cover. The Custodier HD+ stands up and moves to the right side of the roof she's on, and then uses her Pitcher to land a Repeater on ground level in range of the Charontid. Finally, using her Lt. order, the Custodier attemps, but fails to put up a Cybermask.

Round 2
Combined: The Charontid peaks out to shoot the Custodier HD+ who responds with a Hacking program. She wins the F2F, but the Charontid makes his BTS save. I spend a couple of orders carefully moving a Daturazi up in order to Chain Rifle the Repeater off the table, and along the way he drops Smoke between the Custodier (who is still standing) and the Charontid. Free from the Hacking threat, the Charontid kills the Custodier HD+ with HMG fire through the Smoke.
Next I send an Ikadron up the right side toward the Moiras. He loses his Repeater to Blackout once he is range of the Moira AHD, but he still makes it up onto the roof where he lights up the Fireteam. One Moira and Kusanagi are killed, and another is rendered unconscious.
The Moira AHD and the Moira with E/Mitter are the only survivors. With my last order, the Daturazi leaps heroically through the Smoke onto the roof to keep an eye on the surviving Moiras.

Bakunin: Losing the Custodier HD+ puts Ouchies into LoL, so converts the Moira's two Irregular Orders into Regular Orders. Then he lets the Uberfall run toward the Ikadron on the left flank with their Impetuous Order. The Speculo reveals and fires a Boarding Shotgun template that hits two of them along with the (unconscious) Custodier AHD, but she misses her shot. The Ikadron Flash Pulses the Chimera, and the Charontid takes a shot at one of the Pupniks as it vaults the lip of the roof. However, they manage to Dodge to avoid taking Damage. The Pupniks then surround the Ikadron, who puts down a flame template forcing them to Dodge with the second half of the Order. However, it's only delaying the inevitable as the Pupniks CC the Ikadron off the table with the next Order, but does manage to Electric Pulse one of the Pupniks before going down. The Chimera, who has stayed away from the close combat, climbs up by the Speculo and guns her down. With a fifth Order (that I am not able to account for) he stands up the Moira AHD to kills the Daturazi.
Round 3
Combined: The Charontid looks around a corner and guns down the Moira AHD. He can get LoF on the Chimera if he comes out of cover, which he does. We're just outside of 32" so the Chimera is looking for a 5 with her Combi Rifle shot, which Ouchies promptly rolls putting the Charontid in NWI. Inching forward to get into better range, the Charontid tries again. Ouchies rolls another 5, but with the reduced Range he was looking for an 8, and the Chimera ends up going down. The Shrouded Minelayer up by the Charontid then creeps behind the remaining Moira. He shoots her in the back, tabling my opponent.
Final Score
I killed Ouchies entire army, earning me 4 Objectives Points. He's killed 66 points of my army (both Ikadrons, the Speculo, and a Daturazi), which is not enough to earn him any Objectives Points, though it does gain me 3 more for surviving. We had forgotten to declare Datatrackers (mine was going to be the Skiavoros), but since he's been tabled its safe to assume I would have killed his, earning me 2 more Objective Points.
Result: 9-0 Combined Army Major Victory
Notes
- The Charontid had the tools to take on the Moira Fireteam, but only if he had good range bands. The ladder he had to climb in order to see them was pretty clearly within 16", so I should have known the plan was flawed from the start. The Ikadron, on the other hand, was perfect for the job.
- Blocking the Speculo with the Uberfall was brilliant. Definitely the most effective way to stop her that I have seen, though very terrain dependent.
- It wasn't until he actually used his Lt Order that it occurred to me that his Custodier HD+ was his Lt. Given my experience with Nomads, I really should have seen that coming and potentially threatened it more with my Speculo. That being said, I knew the Speculo well enough to not try and send her after the Moira Fireteam, and the Custodier AHD was much easier to get to than the Custodier HD+ (who was deployed in such a way to block access to the only ladder leading to the roof), so it wasn't a huge mistake (if a mistake at all).
- Activating the Charontid while in Repeater range was really stupid. Especially since the Moira AHD could have hacked him too, but it somehow slipped both our minds.
